What’s happening with climate and nature? What does it mean us in York? And how can we respond together?
The People’s Emergency Briefing is a valuable new tool to help us with these questions. It brings communities together around a simple but radical idea: that ordinary citizens, properly informed, are the people to lead the response to the emergency we’re in.
Based around the evidence heard at last November’s ‘National Emergency Briefing’ on Climate and Nature in Westminster, the People’s Emergency Briefing is a 50-minute film that delivers the facts about the threats, but also the enormous benefits of genuine emergency action, featuring reactions from members of the public and some more familiar faces.
YorkCliConnect is collaborating with other local groups to organise a flagship People’s Emergency Briefing event in central York.

We will also be coordinating and supporting individuals and organisations to host screenings and facilitate discussions and action in their communities all across the city – via workplaces, educational institutes, action groups, faith groups, sports teams and more.
For more information, and to find your nearest screening, visit our dedicated York People’s Emergency Briefing page. This will be updated regularly with the latest information on local screenings and related activities.
Using this film, we can connect and engage people across our city, inviting everyone not just to hear the evidence, but also to discuss how we respond here, now, together. We hope to see you at a screening soon.
