YorkCliConnect does York Environment Festival 2025

This year’s York Environment Festival has come to a close after five weeks of events hosted by a whole range of organisations across our city. YorkCliConnect hosted six events this year: four workshops and two network-building events.

We ran tried-and-tested Climate Fresk and Biodiversity Collage workshops, a second #TalkingClimate session all about how to have better conversations, and for the first time we hosted an interactive workshop getting to grips with the Planetary Boundaries framework.

For our more network and social-focussed events we hosted our first People Planet Pint event, which we will continue to organise every few months into 2026. Partnering with York Climate Commission and the York Environment Festival team we then ran an event for convenors, bringing together representatives from dozens of local organisations to discuss how we strengthen connections and action in our city – together. Follow-up work from this event is ongoing!

Across all six of our events we welcomed around 100 attendees in total, about half of whom hadn’t joined a YorkCliConnect event before. In the two and a half years we have been running this network, Sophia and I have facilitated 42 events all with the intention of cultivating knowledge, collaboration and action in York. It has been a pleasure to build relationships with and between so many motivated and caring people.

Our thanks go to all of you who have joined us, to the awesome YEFest organising team, and to our venues Patch, Micklegate Social & Brew York
